The first week has both been exciting, exhausting, boring and a huge cultural shock.

My host family includes Mama Aneth, Lillian (niece), Lulu (daughter, 3), Armani (son, 9), and Margrethe (housekeeper). There is also a father, but I have not met him yet since he lives and works in Dar Es Salaam and only occasionally arrives to the family home in USA River. The family home is a big house, which is fenced. It is decorated with European style furniture. I have my own bedroom with a private bathroom as well. The family seems to be wealthy, with two housekeepers (for the moment only one), a gardener, ladies washing the families clothes, the son attending private school and an extra car, just so a private driver can take him to school in the city. They are very sweet and warmth welcoming me to the family.
I do not have a photo of my whole family yet, but when I do I will post it, but for now you just have to imagine ;)
The weekend
When I am off from work, I am used to be going out and be social with my friends and family. I will always found something to do. And if I stay home, it is because I am either tired or broke ;) The first weekend in USA River with the family and I was ready for whatever there was coming for me. But nothing came. So I asked permission from my host mama, for her niece, Lilian, to show me the local area. My host brother Armani went as well.
On Sunday, I went to the church with Lilian, as well. Here I had to represent myself to the local community in Swahili. Because I was so much ready for that... NOT. It was the most expensive visit to church so far, since I had to donate to all different kinds of purpose. but let´s be fair, I do not go to church that often, but going to church here is a part of the experience of the local life. The rest of the weekend, I spent either studying or watching television. Well, since my host family are not doing anything, at least this weekend, I need to figure that out myself, naturally in responsible way ;)
