Arriving to Tanzania

Travel day

So the day started very early. The alarm rang at 03.39, and my flight was a 06.00. So good morning to me. As we say in Danish; Oppe før fanden får sko på, or translated up before Satan gets his shoes on.

I do know myself good enough that I do not like to get up that early, but if I should from Klampenborg, it would be even earlier. So I booked the night at Comfort Hotel. I was too nervous and excited, so I could not really sleep. But I would probably choose this option if I have an early flight another time. For me it is worth the money.

The flight

The first flight from Copenhagen to Amsterdam was very cold. So when I arrived in Amsterdam, I had 2,5 hours before my next flight. I was trying really hard to find a blanket for my next flight, which would be 9 hours. But I could not. Thankfully it was on the next plane.

The plane was one hour delay, due to some technically problem, which they found out after they boarded half of the passengers. We were 375 passengers. I was i boarding group 5, so luckily I had not boarded. One hour delay and we were on the way.

There was all kind of movies on the plane. New and old. But as I am very nostalgic, I watched Free Willy and Benjamin Buttons. And yeah I cried to both movies. Not embarrassing at all. Due to the time difference, which only is two hours ahead, I was not able to sleep, which I normally will on a long flight. I slept for maximum two hours. Instead of sleeping, I spend the time looking out the window, seeing landscapes of the world, I never seen before. I saw mountains with snow on the top and the dessert of Egypt. So surreal to experiences both sights in one flight.

Arriving to MS TCDC

In Tanzania, they are two hours ahead, so I arrived local time 21:45. It took a long time to get through security and get the VISA checked, but we were also nearly 400 people and only 5 people to checked us all. The rest went smoothly and my driver were waiting with a sign with my name on. It took about half hour drive and we were at MTDC. The first night, I was suppose to sleep with some other Danes, but due to one hour delay, I arrived late and therefor got my own room.

The next day we had introduction day, where we were taught some  greetings in Swahili, how to dress and act in public, what we should do if we meet the police and other pertinent behaviors. Then we did some withdrawals, got a SIM card and then we were ready to go visit our families.
