So it did not turn out as I was expecting

I came here to learn

My motivation for being a volunteer in Tanzania, was to contribute and learn. Soon after I arrived, I found out that work processes just goes slower. Actually so slowly that I barely had anything to do for two months. Which is why I ended my volunteer ship May 9th. So what am I gonna do now?

4,5 months in the big big world

I think I easily can say that my volunteer ship did not turn out how i wanted. My hopes was that I could go to Tanzania and receive knowledge and experience, that I could use when I will be applying for positions in the future. That did not happen.

I will be gone for 4,5 month. I was suppose to be a volunteer for 3 months and 3 weeks and 3 weeks for holidays; 1 week at Zanzibar and 2 weeks in Madagascar. At this point, if I did not already had paid for Madagascar, I would seriously think about going home, but as Madagascar was quite expensive, of course I will go.

3 months and 3 weeks as a volunteer turns out to be 2 months as a volunteer doing barely anything. So what will I be doing for the next 2,5 month?

I love water. To sail and swim. I had a girlfriend, who lived in Sluseholmen in Copenhagen, which is an area where there is canals surrounding the buildings. Waking up and be able to enjoy the view and have the possibility to swim, it just made me fall in love with water. So why not go a place, where I will have the opportunity to swim everyday? From May 30th until June 30th I will be on Zanzibar enjoying my life :D

Afterwards I will be ready for experiencing Madagascar.

Cultural Heritage Center, Arusha

An unexpected vacation

Arusha is called the capital of safari, which makes perfect sense as it is the last big city before going to the safari parks. There are some different tourist experiences you can do around Arusha. I would especially recommend the Materuni waterfall combined with Chemka Hotspings and a coffee tour. I paid around 85 USD for that tour as I joined a group. Arusha is a fine city to spend a couple of nights before or after your safari, but it is limited with tourist activities, at least for 3 months.

As I have already been doing some activities in the weekends, I do not really see a point to stay in Arusha anymore. The weekend coming up May 22nd to May 25th, I have a trip to Zanzibar planned with some friends, which I look very much forward to. As I need my VISA extended for Tanzania, I am going to Kenya May 27 and will be back May 29. That way I can get my VISA extended. That was sure not a part of the plan and the economy, but if that is how it must go, then let it be.
