My thoughts of being a volunteer started in late June 2024, when I was told that I was suffering from stress. At that time, I decided that i needed to change my life and do more of what I love. One of my big passions is to travel and experience new culture. I have always dreamed of working in a foreign country and thereby the idea of being a volunteer appeared. In that way, I can receive new experiences, both personal and professional. I did my research with different companies, which are sending volunteers to all over the world. I decided to go with Global Contact, which is Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke's travel program. I will be working within a program called ActionAid. The next step was to get in touch with Global Contact. I joined a Webinar, where the coordinator for the volunteers introduced us to the programme. Also some former volunteers presented their experiences. I was sold right away. Next step was to get in contact with the coordinator and set up a meeting, so that she could introduce the programme even further and I could present my profile. We agreed that she should reach out to a youth organization in Arusha, to see if they could use my qualifications. It was a match and here I am on my way to Tanzania. Almost... there was a lot of planning and coordinating. More about that, will be introduced in the following blog presentation.
As a volunteer, I know I isn't going to change the world, but hopefully I can bring new perceptions as well as I will receive new perceptions in cooperation with the locals of Arusha and other volunteers.
